ENYP requires parental/guardian consent for young people to participate in activities - Consent form.  Please note it is the responsibility of parents/guardians to ensure young people arrive on time and are collected from activities.

COOKIES

COOKIES is a youth Café running on Sunday evenings - the opportunity to chill, chat and eat cookies!  Playstation, Nintendo Wii and DJ equipment also available.  We also have an interactive section where we play team games, watch DVDs and have discussions around relevant life topics.

 

 

COOKIES takes place at St Matthew's Church, Thorpe Hamlet on the following dates:

 

Sunday 14th March - "Mum's" (6pm-7.15pm + 15mins chill & chat)

Sunday 25th April - "boyz & girlz" (6pm-7.15pm + 15mins chill & chat)

Sunday 16th May - themed night: come dressed as a celebrity and bring your friends! (6pm-7.15pm + 15mins chill & chat)

Sunday 27th June - "on a hunt" (6pm-7.15pm + 15mins chill & chat)

Sunday 18th July - Summer BBQ (6pm-7.30pm)

Dance Off!

Dance Off! operates four classes catering for different age groups.  All classes  will cover a range of styles and abilities.




'TOTS'
- open to boys and girls aged 4 to school year 3.  Cost is £1.50 a session (from 2010) and families are welcome to stay on site. 

'PRIMARY' - open to boys and girls from school years 4 to 6.  Cost is £2 per session (from 2010).

'HIGH SCHOOL' - open to girls school year 7 and above.  Cost is £2 per session (from 2010).

'ADVANCED' - by invite only for those graduating the 'primary' and 'high school' classes. Cost is £1 per session.

PLEASE REMEMBER: that we would really appreciate a terms subs up front from Jan 2010, these can be paid on the first session back.

EQUIP - Information now available for Easter 2010

This Easter at EQUIP there are three days of activities covering different aspects of Easter.  There'll be three workshops each day (creative activity, physical activity, cookery class) so there's something for everyone! Catering for those in Reception Class to Year 6 classes at school.

 

 

 

Tuesday 6th April; 10am to 1pm @ St Francis (cost £3)

Wednesday 7th April; 10am to 1pm @ St Francis (cost £3)

Thursday 8th April; 10am to 1pm @ The Good Shepherd, Thunder Lane (cost £3)

Schools Work

ENYP works within the local schools taking assemblies, RE lessons, sitting on Governing Bodies, giving lessons on drug education and mentoring children and young people.

 

BASE at Thorpe St Andrew High School is a group for young people to ask questions, debate and explore the meaning of life. 

 

BASE meets in room S18 from 1.10pm-1.40pm.  Free cookies and drinks are available!

Community Support

Olly Turner is employed as a Community Support Mentor for ENYP.  He works with the local schools, pupils, the Safer Neighbourhood Team, agencies and local groups.

Projects:

  • mentoring pupils at Heartsease Primary School - providing social and emotional support by listening to interests and anxieties, encouraging them to think positively about themselves and challenging inappropriate behaviour as necessary.

  • improve community relations through intergenerational projects.  For example, some of the pupils serve food and clear tables at a community luncheon club

  • discussion is taking place about expanding intergenerational work through a reminiscences project - using multi-sensory objects as triggers to memory and conversation; and developing a club where young people and adults can play board games together (this idea has come from the young people themselves).

Street Pastors in East Norwich

In response to a need identified by the local Safer Neighbourhood Action Panels, Street Pastors will be launched across the East of Norwich in April 2008.  This was an exciting development which expanded the work already undertaken within Norwich City Centre.

The A Team 

The A Team is ENYP’s Social Action Team that works within the community on a Saturday morning. The team is able to bless the community in small ways; for example by helping out in people’s gardens.

Voluntary Annual Placement Scheme (VAPS)

VAPS is volunteer placement scheme operating for a one year period, where young people over the age of 18, volunteer for ENYP in discipleship and mission.  This scheme started in September 2008 and is a great way to put faith into action, be challenged and equipped, and come away with a wide range of experience in Schools Work, Street Work, Youth Work, Outreach and Service. 

 

Volunteers will be active in the delivery and operation of ENYP activities as well as pioneering new initiatives according to their gifts and abilities.

 

We are now looking for participants for the academic year 2009 (starting September 09).  To review an article about the 2008/09 year click here

Young People's Forum

Our young people's forum provides the opportunity for young people to get more involved with the future     development of ENYP by contributing their ideas and feedback.

 

 

The Forum seeks to strengthen and empower both the individual young people and the group as a whole, as we equip them with the social skills to volunteer for the project and gain the confidence to voice their thoughts, issues and opinions on being a young person in society today.

 

The forum will meet on the following dates at St Matthew's Church Thorpe Hamlet from 6.30-8pm:

 

Tuesday 16th March - social - 'Yellows' and tour of NCFC

Tuesday 27th April - developing 'Sew Now' as a new Project

Tuesday 18th May - 'getting to know you'

SNAP (Safer Neighbourhood Action Panel)

ENYP works with the local Safer Neighbourhood Action Panels; who with agencies such as the Police and Council, meet local neighbourhood priorities and bring positive change to communities.  Representation is on the Panels for Thorpe Hamlet/Heartsease and Thorpe St Andrew.

 

ENYP Street Pastors came out of a priority identified through the local SNAP.

'THE TOWER’ for young people aged 11+ (year 6) and above. 

DJ workshops

Includes beat matching, pitch mixing, scratching, turntable tricks, mixing positive and clean music beats CD and Vinyl.  Young people will work with the different music styles they enjoy - hip hop, RnB, Drum & Bass, breakbeat, Electro House and so on.

Rapping / MC-ing

Includes making positive clean lyrics and poetry alongside musical beats.

Music Production

Includes learning how to use music production programmes to make up songs and beats.
